Clarence House - The Permanent Vacation
A group of friends who visited Barbados every year was in love with the island. The laid back feel, the friendly people and the constant sunshine. They decided they wanted to invest into their favourite vacation spot and have a permanent location they could stay at every time they returned.
Using their favourite hotel as inspiration, the clients were after a modern colonial feel. A nod to the grand plantation feel with rich wood tones and plantation shutters but with a contemporary twist - clean lines and minimal fuss.
The 12 unit apartment building was targeted for renters similar to themselves - looking for a comfortable place to stay on the west coast, with high end finishes for a reasonable price. With a short walk to restaurants, nightlife and all amenities - they knew the location was a winner and wanted to ensure the finishes were the extra special icing on the cake.
They wanted to ensure the best use was made of every square inch of the smaller space and that all the finishes were upmarket for a high end feel. Taking the small space into consideration and making sure they would get the biggest return on their investment, a sleeper sofa was used in each apartment for added sleep space and the second bedroom was a convertible twin to king to allow for various sleeping arrangements.
The dining furniture was then placed on the patio to keep the interior of the apartment feeling open and spacious with small scale furnishings used throughout.
