Lighthouse Look - Riding the Rental Property Wave

Dreaming of a vacation in the Caribbean usually involves visuals of catching the perfect wave and carrying a surfboard down the beach as the sun begins to rise.

A Barbadian business man decided to make an investment in what Barbados truly has to offer by creating the ultimate surf pad inspired rental apartment for visitors who are looking to do just that.

The opportunity arose when a run-down apartment building popped up for sale in Atlantic Shores - a neighbourhood on the south coast adjacent to a popular surf spot. Being in the construction business himself, he had no fear of taking on this reno project and got started right away on modernizing the building.

He knew he had to let the interiors do the talking to get the space to be successful. Targeting the young surfer community – couples and friends who were on a budget but wanted a place that was fun and memorable.

He handed over the design reigns with the idea that a ‘Instagrammable surfers paradise’ was what he wanted and that the goal was to get the biggest return on his investment – and that is just what we delivered!

Instagrammable Spaces

For any rental property, the goal should be to make each space aesthetically beautiful to make the photos stand out from all the other rental properties. Bold colours were used to grab attention in this small space, with bright pops of aqua, teal and orange that would be sure appeal to the younger target market. Fun surf inspired accessories and playful accents were used to create that Instagram approved look.

Bang for Your Buck!

The plan for this design was to make the most of every space. Multi-purpose stations for work and play were featured indoors and out. A convertible sleeper sofa was used in the main living space along with flexible sleep options in the bedroom with a twin to king bed to cater to a variety of guests.

The proof is in the (rental) pudding! Lighthouse Look launched with the apartments being fully rented out for months with stellar reviews from renters.
